Current Missions

  • Local food pantries in Barnesville, Glyndon, and Sabin provide essential food assistance to community members in need. Our congregation continues to support these pantries. A donation basket is located on the stairway landing for non-perishable food items. Throughout the year we volunteer at the pantries.

    + Scheduled volunteer support for the Barnesville pantry during the five Mondays in March.

    + Assembled and delivered 23 Easter bags and children's books to the Barnesville food pantry, bringing joy to local children.

  • Bdecan Presbyterian Church serves the Spirit Lake Nation, focusing on spiritual growth and community support. We collected new and gently used children's winter clothing for the Bdecan community. Donations included coats, boots, and mittens, placed in the stairwell basket.

  • Churches United provides Safe Shelter, Stable Housing, Nutritious Food, and a Path Toward Healing across five locations in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

    Collected duffel bags, winter essentials, and personal hygiene items for men in need.

    Delivered a carload of coats, blankets, and outerwear to Churches United and the YWCA during the holiday season.

  • We started the church project of building a small pollinator garden by our church sign in 2022. The garden is named “Brodie’s Bees” in memory of a church youth member related to the Deeton family. The garden is also dedicated to the memory of Freemont Pender, a long-standing church elder who was actively involved in caring for our buildings and grounds. We have kept the garden growing and it is beautiful.

  • Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch is a Christ-centered residential treatment and educational center for children and their families. They help the most troubled, complicated, and amazing kids by providing best-in-class psychiatric therapy and trauma-informed care.

    Our Sunday School's "BEE KIND" initiative inspired this mission, emphasizing the importance of pollinators and community support.

    + Participated in the Honey Sunday campaign, raising $295 (70% of sales) for the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch.

    + Allocated $135 (30% of sales) to local youth and family concerns.

    + Contributed $240 to a Presbyterian Giving opportunity, providing a Bee Kit to a Central American farm family.

    + Maintained the "Brodie’s Bees" pollinator garden, dedicated to the memory of church members.

  • Item desRonald McDonald House Charities of the Red River Valley provides a place for rest, meals, and support while a child is receiving medical care in Fargo, North Dakota.

    + We have an ongoing mission to collect pop tops to support the Ronald McDonald House, aiding families with children undergoing medical treatment.

    + Distributed and collected pop top boxes, contributing to the recycling program that funds family care services.

  • The Sabin Fire Department sponsors an annual Truck or Treat. The event attracts families from all across the area on Halloween for an evening for cider, hot chocolate and candy bars for the kids. Area residents, businesses, and organizations hand out treats.

    + Participated in the Sabin Trunk or Treat event at the Sabin fire hall on Halloween, providing a safe and fun environment for children.

    + Engaged with the community by decorating trunks and distributing treats to local children.

  • The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

    + Supported the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign by volunteering as bell ringers during the holiday season.

    + Filled multiple time slots, raising funds to provide groceries and shelter for those in need.

  • YWCA Cass Clay is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

    + Collected women's and children's hats, mittens, socks, and pajamas for the YWCA during the holiday season.

    + Provided essential clothing items to support women and children in need.

  • The Rape and Abuse Crisis Center of Fargo-Moorhead offers confidential crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, and education to all persons affected by sexual and domestic violence.

    + Collected personal hygiene products for the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center during the holiday season.

    + Continued collection and donation of hygiene items to support individuals affected by abuse.

  • United Way of Cass-Clay inspires and activates the community to improve lives. They focus on lifting families out of poverty through reducing hunger and homelessness, preparing children to succeed, and strengthening families.

  • The American Red Cross of the Dakotas – Eastern ND & Northwestern MN office provides disaster relief, supports military families, offers health and safety training, and collects lifesaving blood.

  • Each year during the Advent and Christmas season, we lift up past, present, and future leaders of the church. God has blessed the church with incredible leadership in every time and place, but those leaders often need to be supported by their communities as well. This Offering provides support for Presbyterian church workers and their families in their time of need and leadership development and education for communities of color at Presbyterian-related schools and colleges equipping communities of color.

  • The state Adopt a Highway volunteer program helps keep Minnesota highways and rest areas clean and free of litter by relying on volunteer groups to pick up trash along their adopted section. Community groups, churches, individuals or businesses adopt a designated section of highway and commit to pick up litter along both sides of their highway section at least twice a year.

    + Participated in cleaning the ditches along our Adopt-a-Highway stretch of Highway 9 near Downer.

  • Our church proudly stewards a portion of our property that features a softball field, which is maintained and prepared for use by the local recreation league. In addition, we extend our care to a nearby play field, owned by others, ensuring that both fields are safe, clean, and welcoming for children and families in our community.

    + We support healthy play, teamwork, and community spirit.

    + Every year we host an ice cream social on the last night of the season.

  • Several times a year we host a luncheon, dinner, bake sale, or rummage sale to raise funds for local missions.

    + Raised $2,100 through bake sales and the spring rummage sale event.

    + Distributed remaining rummage sale items to Churches United, New Life Center, UC Hope in Glyndon, Barret Senior Care Center, and Little Free Libraries in Barnesville.

  • Participated in Giving Hearts Day on February 13, donating to various organizations.

    + Together with our Fargo location we donated over $14,000 to 17 organizations, including United Way, Red Cross, Barnesville Area Community Fund, New Life Center, Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity, Rape and Abuse Crisis Center, Churches United for the Homeless, Heart-n-Soul Community Café, 4 Luv of Dog Rescue, Brady Oberg Legacy Foundation, Dear NICU Mama, Feed My Starving Children, GiGi's Playhouse, Kritter Krazy, Red River Children's Advocacy Center, Red River Zoo, and YWCA Cass Clay.
